Tulcea (pronounced tool-cha) is a town situated just before the River Danube starts to separate into different channels to form the Danube Delta. It is thee starting point for boat trips into the heart of the Delta.

The main attractions at Tulcea are the Heroes Monument with views over the City, the Archeological Museum which is close to the Heroes Monument and the Danube Delta Museum.

The riverside promenade with its bars and restaurants is a popular walk during the warm summer months.
